A piece of my mind

35mm film w/ Michelle

I’ve been itching to shoot film for a very long time now. I’ve never had a proper go at it before, but it always appealed to me. Whenever I shoot digitally I find myself trying to get a ‘film look’, so why not just shoot film instead of spending hours editing? I bought an Olympus OM-1, two rolls of Kodak Gold 200, and brought it to a shoot.

I wasn’t too confident in my film shooting skills and I didn’t want to mess the entire shoot up so I brought my digital camera as well. You can see the entire shoot, film and all, here.

All the photos below were shot on the Olympus OM-1 + Kodak Gold 200 35mm film. Film was developed and scanned by Odenlab.

The Olympus OM-1 is a fully analog camera, there is no electronics involved at all. Which also means no light meter. It was a very interesting, and very different experience, but a welcome one. Once I get to know the camera better and feel comfortable using it, I’ll post a review about the camera and film stocks. For now, keep an eye on my Instagram to see any new shoots. Also check out Michelle.
